ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Solicit commercial business through a consistent business development calling program with new and existing customers.
  • Foster relationships with centers-of-influence to create referral sources.
  • Meet with customers’ senior management and visit their facilities to understand the business and evaluate management capability, business stability and viability.
  • Evaluate prospective loan requests; review customer’s financial, credit, and tax information to determine merits of the loan request, suitability, and comparability with CSB growth and portfolio goals; recommend the appropriate loan structure.
  • Prepare detailed loan presentations and make recommendations for large or complex loans referred to Loan Committee and/or Executive Committee/Board of Directors as required; follow through as necessary.
  • Negotiate credit terms such as rates, repayment parameters and collateral specifications in compliance with the Bank’s loan policies, and all federal and state regulations; ensure product pricing reflects the level of investment risk.
  • Represent the Bank in community and civic functions to enhance the Bank’s image and develop additional business.

Portfolio Management
  • Manage an assigned loan portfolio; review each customer’s financial status and operations to ensure the loan remains sound and conditions of lending are met.
  • Obtain up-to-date financial information and analyze it to ensure compliance with loan covenants.
  • Maintain an up-to-date credit file on each borrower, including financial data, correspondence, economic conditions, and other pertinent documents.
  • Ensure ongoing soundness of the commercial loan portfolio through diligent monitoring of delinquency, credit performance, financial analysis, appraisal review, hazardous waste assessment, and general credit file maintenance.
  • Review lines of credit annually; make recommendations on renewals and extensions.
  • Pursue closing of approved loans; ensure all documentation is accurate, complete and in compliance with approval documents, Bank policy and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain liaison with Retail Banking Department to monitor and coordinate status of prospective and existing commercial customers; exchange relevant information and attend periodic meetings.
  • Promptly recognize problems, manage risk, act promptly to recommend risk rating changes per CSB Loan Policy, and develop workout programs as necessary.
  • Maintain and update knowledge of current developments in banking through review of literature and participation in continuing education programs.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration required;
    Master’s Degree in Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience as a commercial lender or equivalent combination of education and experience; work related experience should include a background in managing, supervising, and developing staff.
  • Extensive knowledge of banking, with concentration in lending and credit analysis, ratio and trend analysis, interpretation of financial statements, and appraisal & environmental/flood reports and applicable laws.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to provide leadership, supervision and training for employees using positive supervisory techniques to ensure maximum productivity; demonstrated ability in organization and delegation skills.
