Position: Clinton ED Registration Representative 16 Hours Days

Major Responsibilities
  • Excellent customer service skills and knowledge, including service recovery.
  • Accurately collect and enter all patient demographic and financial information for all registration types, obtaining signatures, scanning documents, and collecting patient financial responsibility.
  • Use reference materials to ensure proper procedures and seek guidance when appropriate.
  • Follow downtime procedures as established.
  • Proactively work on downtime tasks (e.g., DLs, Insurance Management desktop, renaming faxed orders, cleanup of old/used orders, ensuring work and patient waiting areas are neat and presentable)..
  • Understand the role in Press Ganey/HCAHPS scores and focus on positively influencing patient experience and recommendation likelihood.
  • Process pre‑registrations for all appointment types and locations, excluding ER.
  • Answer phone and return voicemails timely.
  • Seek guidance from the department manager when uncertain or faced with unusual situations; never make impulsive or hasty decisions.
  • Treat everyone as a customer and establish good relationships with patients, visitors, ancillary departments, and physician office personnel.
  • Use all eligibility resources available to verify correct insurance is listed in the account.
  • Work well within a team environment and maintain open communication with co‑workers regarding meal breaks, shift changes, etc.
  • Identify and estimate patient financial liability (copayments, deductibles, coinsurances, deposits) and handle active collections, receipts, posts, and reconciles cash.
  • Consistently meet/exceed quality review scores of 80%, achieved 9 out of 12 months of the year.

  • Demonstrate use of quality improvement in daily operations.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and requirements.

  • Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed.

Position Qualifications License/Certification/Education

Required:

High school graduate or GED required.

Experience/Skills
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Receive on‑the‑job training under close supervision.
Preferred
  • Previous clerical and Meditech experience desirable, but not required.
  • A good understanding of medical terminology helpful.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience providing proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed may be substituted for the above requirements.
