Job Purpose Statement

The Center for Children & Families is seeking a family therapist to provide in‑home counseling services to children and families. The therapist will engage families through a variety of programs, including Functional Family Therapy (FFT), Functional Family Therapy – Child Welfare (FFT‑CW), and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF‑CBT), empowering them to build stable, healthy environments. This position will report to the Clinton, Mississippi office, providing clients with in‑home/community‑based services across the Central Mississippi region.

Job Requirements
  • Educational background: Master’s degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Social Work required.
  • Licensure & Credentials: DMH Credentials (PCMHT/CMHT) required, may be obtained after start date/during orientation. Preference for candidates licensed or provisionally licensed as a PLPC, LPC, PLMFT, or LMFT. Candidates with a master’s in Social Work must possess an LCSW. Licensure is not required to be considered.
  • Experience: New graduates, mid‑career therapists, or retired individuals seeking to make an impact. All experience levels welcome.
  • Independent contractor nature: Social workers with an LMSW license cannot be hired.

Other Requirements
  • Contractor requirements: Hold workers’ compensation & professional liability insurance; trained in CPR and program requirements pre‑service.
  • Pre‑start background checks: State background check, drug & TB tests required.
Duties & Responsibilities Client Care & Empowerment
  • In‑home and community‑based service delivery:
    Primarily in the home environment, engaging families and utilizing available resources and relationships. Services also delivered in community settings (i.e. schools, libraries, and other agreed‑upon sites).
  • In‑person engagement:
    Sessions conducted in person; telehealth used only when medically necessary.
  • Training completion:
    Participate in applicable online training for evidence‑based programs (FFT, FFT‑CW, TF‑CBT).
  • Client assessment & treatment planning:
    Evaluate needs, develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Family empowerment:
    Support families in building stable environments.
Case & Data Management
  • Administrative duties:
    Complete and submit all necessary paperwork for Medicaid plans and maintain accurate client records (weekly case notes, invoices, intake letters, treatment plans, safety plans, monthly reports, court reports, discharge summaries, other program paperwork).
  • HIPAA compliance:
    Ensure client information handled in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaboration & Supervision
  • Regular supervision:
    Engage in supervisory sessions and seek guidance from the Therapeutic Services Supervisor.
  • Professional development:
    Attend workshops, seminars, continuing education opportunities.
  • Team collaboration:
    Collaborate with colleagues and provide consultation.
  • Additional responsibilities:
    Perform other duties as assigned by the Therapeutic Services Supervisor.
Pay & Compensation Information
  • Job type:
    Full‑time, independent contractor (1099).
  • Caseload:
    Minimum 16 direct client contact hours per week.
  • Pay rate: $65–75 per direct client contact hour.
  • Other compensation:
    Signing bonus; two‑week onboarding stipend; annual retention bonus (if applicable).
