Basic PurposeJoins metal components together using a predetermined weld process.
Primary Accountabilities- Welds metal parts together in various positions per the weld process specifications.
- Performs welding on a wide variety of metals and alloys, as required on WPS and setup specs.
- Calculate and measure the dimensions of parts to be welded.
- Welds weldments where alignments, dimensional, and weld quality must conform to size, location and type requirements.
- Uses weld fixtures, gauges, and jigs.
- Monitor welding process and adjust health as needed.
- Maintains welding equipment and machinery.
- Assess the quality of welds and identify flaws.
- Inspects parts using precision measuring equipment and documents inspection data.
- Must inspect weld surfaces and metal types for preparation of a quality weld.
- Must always follow safety and health procedures to avoid accident and hazards.
- Cleans and organizes work area.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Employee must pass the welding exam within 90 days of hire.
- Must have demonstrated knowledge in math and/or science.
- MiG and TIG experience required; must determine type of welding needed based on requirements.
- Ability to read and understands blueprints, schematics, and drawings.
- Excellent hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations.
- Must be able to use basic tools, tape measure, calipers, clamp pieces and other required tools.
- Must be able to work well independently and as part of a team to meet productivity standards.
- Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to tolerate heat, fumes and dust associated with the welding process.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach and reposition the body to perform an appropriate welding process.
- Must have 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
