Outpatient Registered Nurse - RN at Fresenius Medical Care

Paid Training

Dialysis Experience Not Required, Will Train

Position is for a 3rd shift RN

Work schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Friday 11:00AM-9:30PM

30 hour/week

Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of RN experience
  • RN active license
  • Dialysis experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities
  • Work under the direction of the Clinical Manager and guidance from the Educator, Preceptor, or CAP RN 2-5 during the first 6 months.
  • Qualify to advance to the next CAP level within 24 months from hire.
  • Collect and analyze patient data pre‑during‑post hemodialysis treatment and document in the medical record.
  • Recognize patient status changes and collaborate with the health team for input.
  • Assess daily patient care needs and collaborate with patient care staff.
  • Direct and provide safe, effective delivery of chronic hemodialysis therapy.
  • Administer medications as prescribed or by approved algorithm and document justification and effectiveness.
  • Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, shipping, and reschedule missed or insufficient lab collections.
  • Enter and acknowledge physician orders in the medical record.
  • Assist with emergency response measures.
  • Delegate tasks to LVN/LPNs and patient care technicians as appropriate.
  • Monitor staff adherence to FKC policy and procedures.
  • Promote infection control, equipment, and environmental safety.
  • Assess and document patient/family learning needs and provide education.
  • Update nursing assessment and plan of care through collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options.
  • Refer to Social Worker and Registered Dietitian as suitable.
  • Check availability of emergency equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with medication tracking and inventory.
  • Serve as a resource for the health care team and participate in staff training and orientation.
  • Participate in all required staff meetings.
  • Support and promote FMCNA's mission, vision, values, and customer service philosophy.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Heavy lifting and moving of patients; may require moving 200 lb equipment with assistance and lifting up to 30 lb chemical or water solutions.
  • Frequent, prolonged periods of standing; ability to bend over; occasional travel to training sites.
  • Exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials common in health care facilities.
  • Desk and computer work and interactions with patients, staff, and physicians.
Supervision
  • Oversight of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs as Team Leader or designated Nurse in charge after completing FKC education and training and after 9 months as RN and 3 months in chronic hemodialysis.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current appropriate state licensure.
  • Meet all state practice requirements for the state of employment.
Experience and Required Skills
  • Entry‑level for RNs with less than 2 years of nephrology nursing experience within the last two years, or RNs with a BSN and less than 1 year of such experience.
  • Minimum of 9 months experience as a Registered Nurse (preferred).
  • Chronic hemodialysis experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of FKC Education and Training requirements for new employees.
  • Success in CPR and BLS certification maintenance.
  • Meet all conditions of employment including Ishihara's Color Blindness Test.
  • Successful completion of all annual required education, training, and competencies.
  • Continual training and education as assigned or required.
