Join Our Team! Interpreter Position Available at Sampson County Health Department (WIC Department) Are you a motivated, bilingual professional passionate about helping others? The Sampson County Health Department is looking for a dedicated and fluent interpreter to join our WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program team.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: As an interpreter in our WIC department, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all services, communications, and documentation are accessible and culturally appropriate for the families we serve. Your work will help clients receive the essential food benefits they need for proper nutrition and overall well-being. This position will assist clients through accurate interpretation during appointments;

conducting interviews and gathering information to determine program eligibility; issuing eWIC cards and entering data into electronic health records; supporting the team in delivering respectful, clear, and inclusive services. This position will be required to interpret in other areas of the Health Department as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: We're seeking a professional with strong oral and written communication skills in both English and the target language, knowledge of ethical standards and practices in interpretation, good judgment and organizational skills and a passion for public health and community service.

MINIMUM

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED and one year of experience in interpreting and translating English in a setting that requires knowledge of programs and services. Demonstrate interpreting fluency. Demonstrate accurate translation skills. Knowledge, skills and abilities requirements are reading and ability to perform basic calculations, filing, alphabetically and chronologically, communication skills, typing, data entry, organization skills, confidentiality.
