You will be based at Clitheroe Community Hospital, delivering outpatient services on reception. A high level of flexibility is required to meet the needs of the service, and you may be expected to travel across multiple sites and specialities within the Integrated Musculoskeletal, Pain & Rheumatology Service (IMPReS) across East Lancashire.
Responsibilities- Provide high‑quality front‑of‑house administration and clerical support for all users of IMPReS.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of administration associated with all patient appointments.
- Handle inbound and outbound calls to agreed professional standards.
- Provide administrative and monitoring support for referral pathways.
- Manage the day‑to‑day running of a busy reception unit.
- Respond to patient and staff queries promptly and professionally.
- GCSE Grade A‑C / Level 4‑9 or equivalent in English and Maths.
- NVQ in Customer Care or willingness to work towards this qualification.
- Experience working in a reception environment.
- Good keyboard skills.
- Ability to input data accurately and manage details precisely.
- Ability to understand, absorb and comply with procedures and make use of own judgement in important cases.
- Experience accessing the internet/email systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; polite and positive manner.
- Proven excellent telephone manner.
- Willingness to adapt to changing service needs; cover 8.00am‑8.00pm as required.
- Friendly and caring approach.
- Team‑work orientation and support for team members.
- Ability to take on new ideas, skills and knowledge.
- Confidentiality of information.
- Knowledge of Data Protection and Caldicott guidelines.
- Access to own transport for work purposes.
High flexibility and willingness to travel across multiple sites and specialties are required. The role may involve working across the day from 8.00am to 8.00pm when necessary.
CompensationSalary is advertised for full‑time hours. For posts below 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro‑rated. New entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant Agenda for Change band.

DBS and SafeguardingApplicants will be required to obtain a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Candidates may choose to pay the DBS charge in instalments if appointed. The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure is £55.38 and for a Standard Disclosure is £27.38. If the posting is a bank role, the full amount must be paid at the time of employment checks.
