Are you an experienced mechanical fitter looking to take ownership in a fast‑paced, heavy industrial environment?

At Tarmac, we are looking for a skilled and proactive Mobile Mechanical Plant Fitter to join our engineering team at Clitheroe Quarry. This is a key role supporting multiple sites across the Lancashire region, focused on maintaining plant performance, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement.

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across mobile plant
• Respond to plant breakdowns, restoring equipment to service safely and efficiently
• Diagnose mechanical faults and implement robust, long‑term solutions
• Support and deliver small engineering and improvement projects
  
  Work collaboratively with contractors and site teams
• Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities
• Undertake welding and fabrication to a high standard
• Follow risk assessments and safe systems of work at all times
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems
• Promote and uphold high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance

You will be a practical, self‑motivated engineer with experience in heavy industry or a similar environment, with a strong focus on safety and plant performance.

• A recognised mechanical apprenticeship
• Experience in quarrying, industrial plant, or manufacturing environments
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving capability
• Proven ability to carry out effective breakdown repairs
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Basic IT skills (maintenance systems and reporting)
• A solid understanding of health and safety practices

• Knowledge of mobile crushers, conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, belt sand vibratory screens

Based at Clitheroe Quarry in the Ribble Valley, this role is commutable from Accrington, Blackburn, Burnley, Skipton and surrounding areas.
