The Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for evaluating residential mortgage loan applications to ensure they meet company guidelines, investor requirements, and regulatory standards. This role involves analyzing borrower creditworthiness, income, assets, and property documentation to determine loan approval, denial, or conditional approval.
Education and/or Experience- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in mortgage underwriting.
- Strong knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loan programs
- Proficiency with loan origination systems (LOS) and underwriting tools
- Solid understanding of credit analysis, income calculation, and risk assessment
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have FHA DE
