Education Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent is required
  • Active RN licensure for the state of Iowa is required
  • Two (2) year minimum experience within a clinical setting and/or gastroenterology preferred
Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Gastroenterology clinic team. This role supports the delivery of high-quality outpatient GI care by assisting providers with patient assessments, education, care coordination, and clinical procedures. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates excellent communication skills, and is passionate about improving patient outcomes through proactive and efficient support.

In this position, you will be responsible for rooming patients, collecting clinical information, providing pre- and post-procedure education, and assisting with chronic disease management for conditions such as GERD, IBS, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis. You’ll also play a key role in scheduling tests, triaging patient concerns, and collaborating closely with physicians, infusion staff, and administrative teams to ensure a seamless patient experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients and review medical history, current medications, and presenting GI symptoms
  • Educate patients on diagnostic procedures (e.g., colonoscopy, EGD), prep instructions, and post-procedure expectations
  • Provide guidance on managing chronic GI conditions (e.g., IBS, GERD, Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis)
  • Coordinate necessary labs, imaging, or diagnostic tests as ordered by the provider.
  • Monitor patient vitals and assess clinical status during clinic visits
  • Conduct telephone triage, addressing patient concerns and escalating to providers when appropriate
  • Support physicians with in-clinic procedures (e.g., hemorrhoid banding, anoscopy) when applicable
  • Provide discharge education and reinforce follow-up care plans after appointments or infusion visits
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the EMR of assessments, interventions, and patient education
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care
  • Follow infection control protocols and maintain clean, well-stocked exam and infusion rooms.

  • Prioritizes tasks to meet departmental flow and safety standards
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality where required
Hours
  • No Weekends or Holidays
  • Monday - Friday
  • 7:30am-4pm or 8am-4:30pm shifts
