Summary:

To learn and utilize effective sales & marketing skills by working with experienced Heartland Co-op employees focusing on seed sales and crop development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the work of the Regional Seed Advisors and the Seed Sales Manager.

Engage with vendors and locations in such areas as seed ordering, delivery, and treatment.

Engage with agronomy sales team to determine patron needs, create solutions, and implement programs to support strategic growth.

Collect and evaluate performance of hybrids and varieties in Heartland Coop seed plots.

Scout patron fields containing Heartland Coop seed hybrids and varieties. Develop solutions for patrons of any in field problems that may arise.

Assist to build strategic marketing plan for upcoming crop season.

Must maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Education and/Or

Experience:

Associate's degree (A.

A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or Bachelor's Degree in an agricultural related field or working towards a Bachelor's Degree.

Language

Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer

Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and the internet.

Certificates and Licenses:

Must maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.
