Job Description

Division/Department: Human Services - Social Services

Location: Human Services Division – As Designated - onsite

Reports To: Director - Social Services

Probationary Period: 6 months/ 180 days

Classification: Child-Related CA

Rate of Pay: $77,589.34-$87,288.01

Responsibilities
  • Personnel management of staff in the Social Services department. This includes completing their annual appraisals, approving leave time, monitoring their work, ensuring proper coverage of duties when they are on leave, training for their duties, and any disciplinary actions necessary.
  • Screen and accept referrals from coordinating agencies, FDL providers, courts and individuals.
  • Assign cases as needed to department workers.
  • Assist department leadership with case reviews as needed.
  • Assess the community to determine current needs and modify program scope of work and budget as needed. Be knowledgeable of area resources and facilitate the referral process for clients and families for appropriate services within Fond du Lac Human Services as well as the surrounding area.
  • Engage in community outreach activities and provide education to prevent and create awareness of social services needs in the community as needed.
  • Develop and update Social Services guidelines and policy and procedure manuals to ensure requirements are met for quality and appropriate care for accreditation, funding, licensing, and/or other regulatory requirements as needed.
  • Submit grant proposals to appropriate funding sources on time and ensures all reporting, monitoring, and workplan requirements of grants are completed according to due dates for each grant as needed.
  • Reviews purchase requests and monitors the use of allocated funds in the Social Services budget to ensure best use of monies available and that each line item remains within budget as needed.
  • Ensure optimal collection of all third-party monies for all possible services for Social Services.
  • Provide written monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as requested.
  • Manage special assignments such as program evaluations, research, or CQI studies as requested.
  • Appropriate work attire is required.
  • Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
  • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Qualifications
  • Valid Driver’s License issued in the US is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related social science field is required. Master’s degree in social work is preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in social work, human services or children’s services required.
  • 2 years employee and/or program supervision experience in area of social work, human services or children services required.
  • Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Two or more years of experience with housing programs and reporting are preferred.
  • Knowledge of Native American communities, culture, customs, and beliefs is preferred.
  • Experience working with Native Americans clients, communities and the ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity is preferred. Applicant must demonstrate cultural sensitivity successfully during probationary period.
  • Experience with creating, revising, and monitoring budgets is preferred.
