The Team
The Radio and Telecommunications team is a small, dedicated group of five Radio Technologists who maintain the Ministry’s critical radio communications infrastructure across B.C. This established team works collaboratively in pairs to service 188 mountain‑top repeater sites, ensuring reliable communication networks that support highway maintenance and public safety. The Role
As a Radio and Communications Technologist, you’ll be responsible for installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining radio and telecommunications systems that keep the Ministry’s operations connected and safe. Your work ensures reliable communication for highway safety and emergency response, directly impacting the well‑being of workers and the public. This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative team, tackle technical challenges in diverse environments—from urban centers to remote mountain sites—and help maintain critical infrastructure that supports safety across the province.

The Team
The Radio Communications team plays a vital role in keeping field staff safe by maintaining a province‑wide network of radio systems for natural resource ministries, including BC Wildfire Service, BC Parks, and Conservation Officer Service. This established team is regionally based, with 10 radio shops and 20 technologists working collaboratively across BC to install, repair, and support thousands of radios and repeaters.

The Role
As a Radio Communications Technologist and/or Senior Radio Communications Technologist, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and repairing critical radio systems that keep field staff safe across BC’s rugged and remote landscapes. This includes servicing mountain‑top repeater sites, installing and maintaining mobile and portable radios, and managing radio frequencies and site data.
