Position: Engagement Specialist I

Overview

Description

Job Summary:

Engagement Specialist I (ESI) is responsible to work closely with parents/caregivers and community partners providing case management and parent education to families. Responsible for planning and promoting family centered educational events, workshops, and trainings that build an awareness of the protective factors and parent leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Greet visitors in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Collaborate with the onsite Engagement Specialist II to support the needs of the families served.
  • Develop and maintain a reference guide of community resources.
  • Conduct outreach activities and administer Neighborhood Resource Center survey to engage the community.
  • Assess and evaluate the needs of the families and provide guidance and case management in person or virtually.
  • Recruit participants, coordinate, plan, provide resource materials, and host Family Cafés and other EPU trainings/workshops.
  • Ensure that all Family Café surveys and other outcome assessments are completed.
  • Collect, summarize and report all data including Family Café surveys and other outcome assessments as required by the program.
  • Enter data into identified databases (Apricot 360 and ETO).
  • Continue skill development by attending approved trainings and contributing to program, department and personal goals.
  • Maintain, manage, and process client records and information confidentially in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  • Follow all EPU health and safety policies and procedures, using universal precautions when diaper changing.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings and in-services.
  • Work hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 AM–6:00 PM, with Saturdays and evenings as needed.
  • Hold a valid California Driver's license and provide proof of current automobile liability insurance; a good driving record is required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisors.
Qualifications / Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Child Development or related field. May consider 5+ years of work experience in lieu of education.

Skills: Must have strong written and verbal communication, ability to make independent decisions within guidelines, reliability, time management, professionalism, adaptability, good judgment, logical thinking, self-confidence.

Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience facilitating parent education programs or groups.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework.
  • Experience providing hands-on activities and engaging participants in workshops, trainings, and events.
  • Ability to conduct classes and trainings virtually via Zoom or other platforms.
  • Experience working with local community resources and human services.
  • Ability to work with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and with varying personalities.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office.
  • Must hold a valid California Driver's license and good driving record; proof of current automobile liability insurance.
  • Bi-lingual skills are a plus but not required.
Physical Demands

Typical

Working Condition:

Position works predominantly at The Fresno Neighborhood Resource Center; location and conditions of other environments may vary.

Equipment Used: Must be able to operate a vehicle to attend meetings and visit families; use computers, printers, telephone, copier, fax and other office equipment.

Essential Physical Tasks: Able to sit for long periods, use keyboard and computer.

This position is a part-time, 30 hours per week opportunity and is benefit eligible
