WHAT YOU'LL OWN Financial Accuracy & Monthly CloseYou'll oversee our monthly close process and ensure our financial statements are timely, accurate, organized, and reliable.
When something doesn't look right, we want someone who notices it, investigates it, and gets it corrected.
Financial Reporting & AnalysisYou'll help us understand more than what we spent and what we earned.
We want meaningful insight into:
- Revenue and expense trends
- Labor and payroll performance
- Budget variances
- Program and business-area performance
- Margins and profitability
- Financial KPIs
- Areas of financial concern and opportunity
We want financial information that helps leadership understand what happened, why it happened, and what we should pay attention to next.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash FlowYou'll lead our annual budgeting process, maintain useful forecasts, provide cash-flow visibility, and help us look forward rather than only backward.
You'll also help evaluate the financial impact of significant staffing decisions, investments, new programs, and growth opportunities.
Financial Controls & ProcessesYou'll evaluate and strengthen our accounting processes and internal controls.
We want financial systems that protect the company, reduce errors, create accountability, and support growth—without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
Financial LeadershipYou'll work directly with the Owner/Visionary, Integrator, Leadership Team, and our existing financial support team.
You'll help our leaders understand their numbers and provide an objective financial perspective when important decisions are being made.
We value someone who is willing to say:
"Here's what the numbers are telling us."
Even when the answer isn't necessarily what we hoped to hear.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FORThis could be an excellent fit for an experienced Controller who wants meaningful, senior-level financial work without a traditional full-time schedule.
You may be:
- An experienced Controller looking for a fractional role.
- A former Controller or Finance Director who no longer wants a full-time executive schedule.
- A financial professional who works with several fractional clients.
- A semi-retired Controller who still enjoys helping businesses make smart financial decisions.
You should have strong experience with:
- Monthly close and financial statement review
- Accounting and financial controls
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Cash-flow management
- Financial reporting and analysis
- Payroll and labor-cost analysis
- Identifying financial risks and irregularities
- Working with bookkeepers, payroll professionals, and outside CPAs
- Communicating financial information to non-financial leaders
Experience with a multi-location, multi-department, service, education, recreation, or similarly complex organization would be especially valuable.
A CPA or accounting degree is valuable, but we place significant importance on Controller-level experience, sound financial judgment, and the ability to turn numbers into useful information.
WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOTThis is not a full-time accounting position.
It is not primarily a bookkeeping position.
Our existing team handles established transactional bookkeeping and payroll responsibilities.
We need someone who can operate above the transactions—reviewing, analyzing, forecasting, questioning, improving, and helping leadership see the bigger financial picture.
