Position: CA Donor Center Technician 1

Job Summary

Octapharma Plasma seeks a CA Donor Center Technician 1 to support our donation center operations in Clovis, CA. This role ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, maintains a high level of donor service and product quality, and supports daily operational tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (e.g., FDA approved Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP) to maintain the highest production standards and facility compliance.
  • Maintain high level of customer service and positive donor experience.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area to ensure a clean and professional environment and stock supplies to meet production demands.
  • Maintain donor center equipment based on Standard Operating Procedures and manufacturer instructions.
  • Monitor donor conditions and employ techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and product quality.
  • Maintain donor confidentiality in accordance with company policy.
  • Keep complete and accurate records per company SOPs.
  • Respond to machine alarms/alerts, perform routine QCs (daily/monthly) on equipment.
  • Cleans any blood or plasma spills and performs proper disposition of biohazardous waste.
  • Confirm donor eligibility based on SOPs.
  • Perform donor vitals evaluation per SOP.
  • Perform finger stick for microhematocrit and total protein determination.
  • Register applicant donors per SOP.
  • Set up and prepare all equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedures.
  • Disconnect donors after plasmapheresis process is completed.
  • Maintain proper ratio to ensure donor safety and product quality.
  • Operate the automated plasmapheresis machines, respond to donor adverse events, and document exceptions.
  • Promptly and sterily collect and store plasma product and samples per SOP.
  • Handle tested and untested product, and product with unsuitable test results.
  • Organize samples and product in a walk‑in storage freezer per SOP.
  • Prepare product and samples for shipment per SOP and federal transportation regulations.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures; report any variance immediately.
  • Perform other job‑related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Three (3) months’ experience in a clerical or customer service position preferred.
  • Specific certification or licensing based on state requirements.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred (location specific).
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions, and manuals required.
  • Ability to understand verbal instruction required.
  • Ability to read numbers on screening equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations required.
  • Effective communication skills required.
  • Must be able to work day and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis.
  • Attendance and punctuality required.
Physical Requirements
  • Always utilize all required and appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty‑five pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
  • Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
  • Ability to view a video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods of time, up to four (4) hours at a time.
  • Enter an environment with a temperature of
    -40°C or colder per SOP.
  • Ability to perform precise tasks that require repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests.
  • Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.

Pay Transparency

The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $16.95‑$22.60‑$28.25. Individual base pay within this range is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies, and other relevant factors.
