Functions as part of the dialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with organization policies, procedures, and training and in compliance with regulations set forth by the corporation, state, and federal agencies. Responsible for the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe and clean environment, supporting the organization’s commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, and actively participating in process improvement activities.
Responsibilities- Assist in patient education regarding adequacy measures such as Online Clearance Monitoring (OLC), Adequacy Monitoring Program (AMP), Urea Kinetic Modeling (UKM), and disease process/access.
- Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their wellbeing since the last treatment.
- Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as authorized.
- Obtain and record pre‑ and post‑treatment vital signs, weights, and relevant data.
- Initiate dialysis treatment per prescribed orders, including blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD). Evaluate and intervene in intradialytic problems as ordered.
- Monitor patients’ responses to therapy, document findings, and report significant changes to the RN or supervisor.
- Perform machine safety checks, maintain safe operation, and document all interventions.
- Prepare and donate samples for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling and handling.
- Assist in training of direct patient care staff under nurse supervision.
- Maintain environmental integrity by cleaning and disinfecting machines, chairs, equipment, and surrounding areas between treatments.
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities and record treatment data accurately.
- Assure adherence to infection control policies and support audits.
- Coordinate transitional care for newly admitted patients, including education on home dialysis options and scheduling multidisciplinary visits.
- Perform necessary physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and assisting patients up to 40 lbs., using assist devices as required.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Certification in Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved state or national dialysis program within the required state or CMS timeline.
- Previous patient‑care experience in a hospital or related setting preferred.
- Completion of corporate dialysis training program and CPR certification required for employment.
- Ability to perform physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 40 lbs. and lifting solutions up to 30 lbs.

Hourly Rate: $23.00 - $25.00
