ResponsibilitiesThe Nurse Educator in Cardiovascular & Interventional Services will play a critical role in facilitating the professional development of Community Health System's (CHS) nursing staff and ancillary staff, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety across our specialized procedural and diagnostic areas (Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Endoscopy, PICA, and Cardiology). This position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs, as well as providing mentorship to nurses.
Additionally, the Nurse Educator will actively engage in patient care to maintain clinical competence within these high-acuity settings.
You will:
- Function as a clinical leader/expert in interventional procedures, cardiac access, hemodynamic monitoring, and pre/post-procedural care.
- Be responsible for coordinating orientation programs, continuing in-service education, and ongoing educational programs for the nursing staff focused on advanced cardiovascular and procedural nursing practice.
- Work with unit management across Cath Lab, IR, Endo, PICA, and Cardiology to organize and develop quality assurance projects and process improvements focused on procedural excellence and patient outcomes.
- Collaborate and consult with other nurses and healthcare professionals to advance nursing practice and improve clinical outcomes within these specialized areas.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Approximately two years clinical experience in Cardiology, Interventional Radiology, or Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab)
- Experience in patient and staff education development and implementation, quality improvement, program development and professional development required
- RN - Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California required
- BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Additional unit specific requirements required
