CPLC's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs are committed to giving every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, an opportunity to succeed in school and life. The program provides full-day, full-year early childhood development services to low income children, ages 0‑3 years, and their families in educationally-stimulating learning environments.

The Preschool Teacher is responsible for promoting school readiness by preparing children and families for school success and life success as it relates to this position. The teacher will provide high‑quality, developmentally appropriate care and education for children aged 3‑5 in a center‑based classroom in the CPLC ECD Program. The role works as part of a center‑based interdisciplinary team to support the child in all areas of development while providing education, disabilities, health, and social service support to families.

The teacher must abide by all state and federal regulations that apply to care and education of young children including the revised Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Texas Child Care Licensing, New Mexico State Child Care Regulations, Office of Head Start Initiatives and ECD Content Area Plans and Procedures. The teacher must actively supervise children by sight and sound in all environments, maintain health and safety regulations, and facilitate health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor, and indoor environments.

• An associate degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, or a bachelor’s degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education (EDE) or coursework equivalent to a major related to Child Development or Early Childhood Education in a related field. Education obtained outside of the United States must be evaluated from an accredited organization to determine equivalency to U.S. education standards.
• Minimum 6 months working with preschool children highly preferred.

• Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.
• Applicants must have basic keyboard skills, be able to use computers, computer software programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe) and web‑based systems.
