Now hiring a Registrar II-PRMC

Summary: Responsible for creating accounts in the Hospital Information System. Will act as gatekeeper to validate and verify the demographic information updated into the Hospital Information System by the patient at time of service. Ensures patients medical record number is not duplicated to ensure patient safety. Provides a high level of customer service when dealing with physicians, hospital departments, patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Registers all patient types to ensure proper documentation, to include obtaining complete demographic and billing data to comply with billing and regulatory agency requirements, insurance verification and designated scope.
  • Obtains signatures on all required documents.
  • Financially secures accounts by asking and receiving payments from patients and issues receipts, reconciles daily cash and verifies cash balances, posts and prepares receipts for deposit.
  • Documents all activity in the Hospital Information system.
  • Completes updates on patient demographic, financial, and compliance information in the Medipac system.
  • Utilizes the necessary systems to proactively complete registration, and verification functions.
  • Communicates with patients in a confidential professional manner using tact and diplomacy. Advises patients and their families of co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurances at time of service.
  • Contributes to the established collection goals for designated areas.
  • Assist in training of new and additional personnel and provides for extra coverage as needed.
  • Applies skills, knowledge, abilities, and utilizes reporting tools in order to meet performance and productivity standards as defined by Patient Access Supervisor and by workloads.
  • Adheres to department Quality Review process. Performs follow-up as accounts are processed to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Receives constructive feedback from the Patient Access Supervisor and incorporates it into daily operations.
  • In compliance with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety environmental, and infection control standards. Ensure compliance with HIPPA, EMTALA, and JCAHO.
Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Successfully completed minimum of one year as a Level I Registrar. Passed proficiency evaluations for a Level I. Must be able to work cooperatively with the public as well as all levels of staff and management in the organization. Requires exceptional organizational, prioritization and customer service skills. Comprehensive knowledge of Medipac System.
