We’re looking for an experienced and inspiring Senior Charge Nurse to lead our busy Orthopaedic Ward (Ward 2 West)—championing safe, effective, and person-centred care while supporting a high‑performing multidisciplinary team.
What you’ll do- Provide inclusive, hands‑on leadership for the ward, modelling evidence‑based, person‑centred practice.
- Drive quality, safety and improvement—using patient feedback, audits and learning to enhance outcomes.
- Lead workforce planning, rostering and skill‑mix to ensure safe, efficient, cost‑effective care.
- Coach, develop and appraise colleagues; build a supportive learning culture with strong clinical supervision.
- Own day‑to‑day operations—escalating and resolving issues, partnering across services to optimise patient flow.
- Uphold professional, legislative and organisational standards, with exemplary record‑keeping and governance.
You’ll bring proven clinical credibility in orthopaedics and the leadership confidence to motivate others through change.
You will have:
- NMC UK first‑level registration (Registered Nurse) and a relevant degree/leadership qualification (or working towards). Extensive post‑registration experience in orthopaedic nursing
- Leadership/management experience with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and support others with empathy and integrity.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and confidence managing ward/department budgets.

- A key leadership role with scope to shape practice, culture and patient experience.
