Position Overview
We are seeking a fully registered Surgical Care Practitioner to join our Cardiothoracic surgical team at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital. We are a busy unit, with 6 cardiothoracic theatres.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support in the pre-, peri and post-operative care of cardiothoracic patients.
- Harvest conduit for coronary artery bypass surgery and act as first or second surgical assistant during operations.
- Train and perform endoscopic vessel harvesting.
- Develop clinical skill and knowledge to achieve effective patient care with measurable outcomes.
There is an opportunity for a suitably experienced and registered health care professional to train as a cardiothoracic Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP). The training period is 3 years and involves part‑time study at Edge Hill University together with completion of a clinical portfolio l financial support for the academic work is provided.
Training ProvidedTraining will be provided by our team of Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeons and experienced SCPs. You will develop skills as a first and second surgical assistant to the Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon during surgical procedures. You will learn to harvest suitable conduits for coronary bypass grafting surgery, using both open and endoscopic techniques.
