Our team is on the lookout for an understanding and motivated individual with a positive attitude to join them as a Support Practitioner on a full‑time, permanent basis (39 hours per week).
You don’t need experience in care to start your career with us; we recruit on values and transferable skills. We’ll give you all the training you need to be an amazing Support Practitioner including a fully funded SVQ.
The RoleThe individuals we support have diverse needs, including mental health challenges, learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries, addictions and past trauma. As a Support Practitioner you will assist with all aspects of daily living including meal preparation, medication, attending appointments and activities, managing personal finances, support with moving and handling, and personal care. You will also provide emotional support and help clients maintain relationships with family and friends.
The people we support are very different in their hobbies and likes, from attending clubs to going out for lunch, quiet moments in the library or trips away. Every day is different. We’re looking for someone who is ready to take an active interest in the hobbies and passions of those we support, encouraging social connections, learning new skills or reducing isolation.
Some individuals use mobility cars and love driving. It would be great if you have a full UK manual driving licence, but this isn’t mandatory.
Qualifications- Have an empathetic and caring nature.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confidence in using computers.
- Be able to work well in a team environment and on your own.
- Good organisational skills.
The Richmond Fellowship Scotland provides personalised and outcome‑focused support to over 2800 individuals in their own homes across Scotland, making us the country’s largest provider of social care. We support individuals with a variety of different needs such as physical and/or learning disabilities, ongoing mental health issues, alcohol or substance abuse, and autism. Some of the people we support can present challenging behaviour or require a high level of personal care.
shiftPatterns
Our dedicated team provides 24/7 support; shifts include early, back shifts and sleepovers. The role will include working weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis.
