We are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join our Procurement Team, offering an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of exceptional patient care through effective purchasing, contract management and supplier engagement.
The Procurement Team is responsible for developing and delivering commercial strategies that achieve best value for the organisation’s non-pay expenditure. Working across a wide range of medical, surgical, corporate and support services, the team ensures that departments have access to the goods and services they need to deliver outstanding care. By driving efficiencies, managing supplier relationships and securing value for money, the Procurement Team plays a vital role in supporting the wider objectives of NHS Golden Jubilee.
Aboutthe Role
As part of our Procurement Team, this role will support the delivery of an effective, efficient and compliant procurement service across NHS Golden Jubilee. You will work closely with colleagues across clinical and non-clinical departments, suppliers and key stakeholders to ensure the timely procurement of goods, services and maintenance contracts that support organisational objectives and patient care.

Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Raising purchase orders from approved requisitions, ensuring accuracy and best value.
- Sourcing goods and services where supplier information is not readily available.
- Analysing product usage and identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies.
- Negotiating with suppliers to secure best value for goods, services and contract renewals.
- Providing guidance and advice to customers on procurement best practice.
- Managing supplier relationships and monitoring supplier performance against agreed service levels.
- Resolving invoice queries and ensuring prompt resolution with suppliers.
- Monitoring and managing consignment stock in line with supplier agreements.
- Supporting the Procurement Team Manager and senior colleagues with procurement activities.
- Managing the return and replacement of unsuitable or damaged goods.
- Providing day-to-day support, guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
- Maintaining accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Recording savings achieved through negotiation and product rationalisation.
You will be organised, proactive and customer-focused, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, make informed decisions and work accurately under pressure. You will be a strong team player with a willingness to contribute positively to the success of the Procurement Team and the wider organisation
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a CIPS Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
- Has previous procurement and contracting experience.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Possesses strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving abilities.
- Has experience using Microsoft Office applications and electronic procurement systems.
- Can effectively negotiate and manage contracts across a diverse range of goods and services.
- Is committed to delivering high-quality services, continuous improvement and value for money.
- Can work effectively with colleagues, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Please note this vacancy is for 14 hours per week, Band 4 - £31,537 - £34,303 pro rata
