Overview
WSP Land is the largest and most successful land business supporting infrastructure development in the UK and Ireland. We work on high‑profile projects across the Energy, Highways, Water, Rail, Local Government and Aviation sectors. We are looking for an Associate Director to lead land teams, deliver land services and drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and direction on WSP Land projects.
- Engage stakeholders to secure land rights and acquisition through agreements and statutory powers.
- Champion a collaborative, high‑performance team culture and partner with senior leadership.
- Act as a trusted strategic advisor to external and internal clients, enhancing relationships and securing business opportunities.
- Oversee the delivery of major projects, ensuring on time, within budget and quality.
- Lead business development initiatives in Energy, Water and Rail sectors.
- Partner with Engineering, Engagement, Environmental and Planning disciplines to identify multidisciplinary opportunities.
- Enhance the reputation of WSP Land through thought leadership and sector engagement.
- Prepare high‑quality bids and tenders.
- Implement resource strategies, talent retention, succession planning, recruitment.
- Lead risk and opportunity reviews for robust governance.
- Maintain oversight of project delivery and client satisfaction.
- Promote culture of health, safety & wellbeing, quality assurance, data protection.
- Travel in Ireland and UK.
- Proven leadership in delivering comprehensive land services at a strategic level.
- Expertise in land consents, consultation and landowner engagement for major projects.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across sectors.
- Capability in mitigating land risk and providing strategic advice throughout the lifecycle.
- Experience representing clients at public inquiries and oral hearings.
- Strong record of repeat business and expanding services.
- Success in securing new business and client relationships.
- Experience in bid management and high‑quality submissions.
- Talent strategy development, succession planning, recruitment.
- Stakeholder management, communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Effective collaboration at all organisational levels.
- Ability to build relationships with senior clients and managers.
- Resilience under pressure, delivering high‑quality outputs.
- Commercial acumen, proficiency with IT systems.
- Commitment to quality assurance, data protection, health and safety.
- Degree in Geography, Agriculture, Land & Estate Management or related discipline.
- Chartered status or membership of a recognised professional body highly desirable.
