Position: Registered Charge Nurse / ODP – Orthopaedic Scrub

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join the Theatre team at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital.

The Golden Jubilee University National Hospital supports NHS Scotland in delivering high-volume elective surgery and a range of specialist national services. Theatres play a key role in delivering safe, effective, patient‑centred perioperative care across a variety of surgical specialities.

The Role

As a Charge Nurse / ODP
, you will work as an independent practitioner and clinical expert, providing leadership and supporting the day‑to‑day management of the theatre team, acting as a deputy to the Senior Charge Nurse and contributing to the safe and effective running of the department.

You Will
  • Provide clinical leadership and support to the multidisciplinary team
  • Deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse as required, including theatre coordination and patient flow
  • Lead and support the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care
  • Contribute to staff management, including supervision, development, and appraisal
  • Support service improvement through audit, project work, and implementation of best practice
  • Ensure effective use of resources, contributing to workforce planning and service delivery
About You

We are looking for a motivated and experienced practitioner who can demonstrate strong leadership and clinical skills within a perioperative environment.

Essential Criteria
  • Registered Nurse or ODP with relevant professional registration
  • Degree‑level education or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience within a perioperative/theatre environment
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and specialist knowledge
  • Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills
  • Ability to work flexibly across shift patterns, including on‑call requirements
Desirable
  • Experience of clinical leadership, service improvement or quality initiatives
  • Understanding of improvement methodologies and management principles
