A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join the Theatre team at the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital.
The Golden Jubilee University National Hospital supports NHS Scotland in delivering high-volume elective surgery and a range of specialist national services. Theatres play a key role in delivering safe, effective, patient‑centred perioperative care across a variety of surgical specialities.
The RoleAs a Charge Nurse / ODP
, you will work as an independent practitioner and clinical expert, providing leadership and supporting the day‑to‑day management of the theatre team, acting as a deputy to the Senior Charge Nurse and contributing to the safe and effective running of the department.
- Provide clinical leadership and support to the multidisciplinary team
- Deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse as required, including theatre coordination and patient flow
- Lead and support the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care
- Contribute to staff management, including supervision, development, and appraisal
- Support service improvement through audit, project work, and implementation of best practice
- Ensure effective use of resources, contributing to workforce planning and service delivery
We are looking for a motivated and experienced practitioner who can demonstrate strong leadership and clinical skills within a perioperative environment.
Essential Criteria- Registered Nurse or ODP with relevant professional registration
- Degree‑level education or equivalent experience
- Significant experience within a perioperative/theatre environment
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and specialist knowledge
- Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills
- Ability to work flexibly across shift patterns, including on‑call requirements
- Experience of clinical leadership, service improvement or quality initiatives
- Understanding of improvement methodologies and management principles
- Develop leadership and management skills
- Contribute to service development and innovation
- Work within a supportive, forward‑thinking multidisciplinary team
This post requires flexible working, including participation in shift patterns and on‑call rotas.
