Description

The Vice President of Finance
- Enterprises is responsible for the financial leadership of business enterprises owned by the Twenty‑Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians. They oversee administrative, financial, and risk management operations, including developing financial strategy, establishing performance metrics, and implementing control systems to protect assets and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting. With a strong foundation in accounting, finance, and fiscal management, the Vice President of Finance‑Enterprises collaborates with senior leadership to support all tribally owned enterprises under the general supervision of the Senior Vice President of Finance.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding customer service to guests and all other employees by exceeding the mission statement.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Twenty‑Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians Tribal Government.
  • Provide financial oversight for all enterprises, including casinos, travel centers, and other tribally owned businesses.
  • Manage the Casino accounting team and the Travel Centers accounting team, handling cash operations, revenue, inventory, accounting, compliance, and asset tracking.
  • Manage other tribal enterprise accounting teams with similar functions.
  • Lead the resolution of accounting and financial issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership to develop and implement financial strategies that align with short‑term and long‑term objectives.
  • Develop financial forecasts, budgeting, and projections for Tribal Government operations.
  • Present reports and strategic financial insights to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Assist with preparation and management of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Review monthly and annual financial reports for accuracy, efficiency, and timely distribution, while ensuring protection of company assets through sound financial oversight.
  • Conduct financial statement analysis and ensure all reporting is clear, complete, and accurate.
  • Evaluate financial systems, internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures; partner with executive leadership to enhance efficiency and financial performance.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, forecasts, and reporting packages for executive review.
  • Lead all internal and external audit processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and implementation of recommendations.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
  • Manage banking activities, including compliance with loan agreements and financial reporting requirements.
  • Oversee cash management processes to maintain optimal financial positioning.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Vice President of Finance to oversee accounting functions, including accounts receivable/payable, payroll processing, and general ledger.
  • Ensure successful audit completion to comply with GAAP and/or other comprehensive basis of accounting.
  • Create a reliable cash‑flow projection process and reporting structure with minimum cash thresholds to support Tribal Government operations.
  • Develop, update, and maintain internal controls to protect tribal assets.
  • Assist with the development, revision, updates, and maintenance of the finance department’s policies, procedures, and systems across the organization.
  • Lead employees by providing guidance, assistance, and problem‑solving support when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) as well as all Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS).
  • Present a positive image of the Tribal organization to guests, vendors, and others as required.
  • Follow all safety policies, attend safety meetings, and complete training as a condition of employment.
  • Make difficult decisions fairly and honestly.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.
