Job Summary

As a Retail Yard Waterer at Moon Valley Nurseries, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the health and appearance of our plants and trees by ensuring they receive proper hydration. Your responsibilities will include watering plants according to seasonal watering schedule, monitoring soil moisture levels, and assisting with general nursery maintenance tasks. This position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a passion for horticulture.

• Diligently water plants and trees throughout the retail yard to maintain optimal hydration levels and promote healthy growth, based on plant or tree size.
• Regularly check soil moisture levels using appropriate tools and adjust watering schedules according to each season as needed to prevent over watering or under watering.
• Operate irrigation systems, hoses, and other watering equipment safely and efficiently.
• Keep a vigilant eye on the irrigation system for any issues or leaks.
• Communicate any watering issues or leaks to the designated irrigation technician.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
• Demonstrated availability to work any day of the week.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned.

• Ability to perform manual labor.
• Basic knowledge of plant care and watering techniques.
• Previous experience with operating power tools, hand tools, and other equipment preferred.
• Ability to follow specific instructions and safety protocols.

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally exchange information with colleagues, managers and vendors. The position is active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently reach for, pull, lift, and/or move items weighing up to and over 75 lbs. The employee must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
