Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.

Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.

Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, and loyalty offers according to company policy.

Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.

Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).

Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.

Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.

Stay updated on current and upcoming promotions and ads.

Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.

Support safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.

Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.

Make customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products.

Follow all applicable laws and company policies.

Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

Manage conflicts cooperatively and non-confrontationally.

Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.

Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Customer service experience
Effective communication skills
Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

Customer service experience
Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
