Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide best‑in‑class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond quickly and courteously to questions or concerns, assist guests with their video gaming needs, inform about special promotions, recommend additional items, apply all selling behaviors during every transaction, and thank guests for shopping at Game Stop.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Promptly and accurately process guest purchases and returns using the Point‑of‑Sale system, providing receipts and top‑notch service.
  • Answer phone calls promptly and professionally; when appropriate, elevate customer issues to the Store Manager.
  • Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits such as the title reservation program, trade‑in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting service expectations and training store associates in all job responsibilities and company policies.
  • Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance in line with company expectations.
  • Provide recognition and feedback to associates, entering written feedback into the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • Ensure associates complete onboarding, job, and compliance training before opening or closing shifts.
  • Work with the Store Manager to schedule associates, ensuring breaks, meal times, and staffing levels meet guidelines and guest service goals.
  • Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify associates are paid for all time worked.
  • Maintain clean, organized store areas, including restrooms, and keep fixtures and equipment in proper working order.
  • Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
  • Apply inventory control and loss prevention practices to protect company assets, performing end‑of‑day inspections and reporting concerns to the Store Manager.
  • Support the team in exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals while completing necessary administrative duties.
  • Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are organized and alphabetized on the sales floor.
  • Balance and reconcile daily transaction totals accurately, complete cash drawer and bank deposit paperwork, and maintain adequate cash on hand.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies, record issues, conduct merchandise counts, and communicate findings to the Store Manager or District Manager.
  • Process defectives/recalls and pull stock accurately and promptly, labeling boxes and including packing lists.
  • Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, identifying hazards and reporting injuries per company guidelines.
  • Maintain organized store records and manuals.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence.
  • Adhere to all Game Stop policies, including the Associate Handbook and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work legally in the United States.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.
