Salary: £26,561.60 (with Level 3/4 Diploma – Children, Young People and Families) or £25,396.80 (without qualification)

About the Role

We are seeking a caring, resilient and committed Residential Support Worker to join our team and make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.

Your role is to provide high-quality care, guidance, and support—helping each young person feel safe, valued, and empowered to achieve their full potential.

You will act as a positive role model, build trusting relationships, and support young people through both daily routines and challenging moments.

Key Responsibilities

-Direct Care & Support

Deliver consistent, nurturing care in line with the Children’s Act 1989, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and Every Child Matters framework.

Provide 1:1 emotional and practical support, especially during times of stress or crisis.

Create a safe, supportive environment that protects young people from harm.

Support with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and establishing healthy routines.

Act as a key worker/co-worker, ensuring care plans are followed, reviewed, and updated.

Promote independence, positive behaviour, and personal development.

-Development & Education

Encourage participation in education, hobbies, and extracurricular activities.

Support young people to build community links and form positive relationships.

Empower young people to be actively involved in decisions regarding their own care.

Act as an advocate during meetings, reviews, and planning sessions.

-Record Keeping & Communication

Keep accurate and timely records, reports, and financial documentation.

Communicate effectively with colleagues and professionals to maintain consistent care.

Contribute to team meetings, planning discussions, and reviews.

-Teamwork & Professional Practice

Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team culture.

Participate in supervision, training, and ongoing professional development.

Follow all safeguarding, whistleblowing, policies, and procedures.

Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.

-Health, Safety & Compliance

Ensure the safety and wellbeing of yourself, colleagues, and young people.

Report risks, hazards, or safeguarding concerns promptly.

Maintain an up-to-date DBS check and report any changes immediately.

Working Conditions

Rota-based shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins (additional payments provided).

Flexibility required to cover shifts and respond to emergencies.

May involve supporting household maintenance tasks (e.g., decorating, gardening).

A valid UK driving licence may be required to drive company vehicles.

Must follow all health & safety guidelines.
