The opportunity

Global Recruitment is acting on behalf of a well-established specialist construction business to recruit an experienced Construction Planner with strong knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional to play a key role in the coordination, development and monitoring of construction project programmes, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed timescales.

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, site teams and other stakeholders to develop robust project schedules, monitor progress, identify potential delays and support effective project delivery.

Key responsibilities

* Develop, maintain and update detailed construction programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.

* Work closely with project managers, site teams and subcontractors to establish realistic project schedules and milestones.

* Monitor project progress against agreed programmes, identifying delays, risks and potential critical path issues.

* Prepare progress reports, programme updates and schedule forecasts for management review.

* Identify opportunities to improve sequencing, resource allocation and overall project efficiency.

* Assist with short-term lookahead programmes and detailed work schedules.

* Support the assessment of programme changes, variations and extensions of time where required.

* Attend project planning and progress meetings, communicating key programme issues and recommendations.

* Ensure project schedules are accurate, coordinated and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

* Previous experience in a construction, engineering, fabrication or industrial project planning role.

* Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.

* The ability to develop, manage and interpret complex project programmes.

* A good understanding of construction sequencing, critical path analysis and project scheduling.

* Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.

* Excellent communication skills and the confidence to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.

* A proactive approach to identifying programme risks and delivering practical solutions.

* The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a fast-paced project environment.
