Bridge Inspection Engineer (3-4 years)
Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is a dynamic, 100% employee- d consulting firm, invites applications for a Bridge Inspection Engineer (3-4 years) in its Hunt Valley, MD office. The role supports a Professional Engineer in performing National Bridge Inspection System (NBIS) inspections of in-service transportation structures including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and traffic device support structures.
Compensation & BenefitsSalary: $90,000 – $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications. The range may adjust based on the selected candidate’s background.

- Assist with contractor coordination
- Assist with scheduling of access equipment
- Assist with preparing condition assessment reports
- Assist with developing repair recommendations and cost estimates
- Assist with preparing engineering documents for advertisement and construction
- Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by established deadlines and quality standards
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and organization
- Ability to work on multiple assignments in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
- Successful completion of JMT’s motor vehicle screening
- Valid driver’s license
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a structural concentration
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certificate
- 3–4 years or more experience in in-service bridge safety, ancillary, and other structural inspections
- Completion of FHWA approved comprehensive bridge inspection safety course (meeting National Bridge Inspection Standards)
- Experience with Micro Station, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu
- OSHA Fall Protection Training
- OSHA Confined Space Training
- Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) training
- CSX/Norfolk Southern RR Contractor Safety Badge
- MTA RWP Training
Work environment: 50% office, 50% field. Field work involves outdoor conditions—heat, cold, wet/humid, dry/arid—and uneven terrain. Responsibilities include bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds. Field duties require the use of access equipment and fall protection, and may involve confined space equipment and occasional short-duration out-of-town travel.
