About the Role

Textron Systems is looking for new and recent graduates to join the Sea Systems business area. As an Autonomous Vehicle Engineer I, you will develop autonomy solutions and apply machine learning, vision, and other emerging technologies to enhance our unmanned surface vehicle platforms. Your day may include designing, simulating, constructing and field‑testing autonomous surface vehicles and their subsystems. The position requires no more than 25% travel.

Responsibilities
  • Design, simulate, construct, and field‑test autonomous surface vehicles and subsystems.
  • Apply machine learning and vision techniques to enable self‑navigation and mission planning.
  • Develop and maintain simulation environments using MATLAB/Simulink, Gazebo, or similar tools.
  • Fabricate or design air, land, or sea‑based robots, with preference for sea‑based platforms.
  • Implement controls and multi‑agent autonomy leveraging ROS, PX4, Ardu Pilot, or MOOS‑IvP.
  • Collaborate on applied R&D initiatives and established programs to improve Textron’s robotic product line.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering with a focus in robotics or autonomy.
  • Experience with intelligence and machine learning applications for machine perception.
  • Experience in multi‑agent autonomous vehicle simulations (MATLAB/Simulink, Gazebo).
  • Knowledge of robotic middleware such as ROS, PX4, Ardu Pilot, or MOOS‑IvP.
  • Comfortable with simulation environments like ANSYS or Unreal Engine.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.
Travel

Up to 25% travel required.
