Salary Range: $50.00 - $55.00 Hourly

Wallace Montgomery is seeking an experienced Bridge Engineer to join our Hunt Valley, Maryland team. In this role, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team developing bridge and structural construction documents for transportation related projects in Maryland, with a focus on Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and other local municipalities. This role will also include functions like assisting with and/or leading bridge safety inspections and supporting specialized analysis of overweight vehicle permits.

• Prepare structure and bridge design calculations, plans, and estimates for bridge projects, including new designs, rehabilitations, and replacements.
• Assist with and/or lead NBIS-compliant Bridge Safety Inspections.
• Perform specialized analyses of overweight truck permits to ensure extremely heavy vehicles can safely cross bridges and travel designated routes throughout Maryland.
• Conduct and review structural modeling and analysis using Micro Station, Open Bridge, Brass, LARS Bridge, MDX, and LEAP products.
• Collaborate with roadway, drainage, geotechnical, traffic, and environmental staff to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Support the development of construction documents and specifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide quality control/assurance efforts.
• May include supervision of designers and technicians of routine activities and projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in bridge design and/or inspection experience.
• Experience with MDOT bridge design guidelines and specifications, inspection procedures, and permit review processes strongly preferred.
