Wallace Montgomery is seeking an experienced Bridge Engineer to join our Hunt Valley, Maryland team. In this role, you will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team developing bridge and structural construction documents for transportation related projects in Maryland, with a focus on Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and other local municipalities. This role will also include functions like assisting with and/or leading bridge safety inspections and supporting specialized analysis of overweight vehicle permits.
Essential Functions:
Prepare structure and bridge design calculations, plans, and estimates for bridge projects, including new designs, rehabilitations, and replacements.
Assist with and/or lead NBIS-compliant Bridge Safety Inspections.
Perform specialized analyses of overweight truck permits to ensure extremely heavy vehicles can safely cross bridges and travel designated routes throughout Maryland.
Conduct and review structural modeling and analysis using Micro Station, Open Bridge, Brass, LARS Bridge, MDX, and LEAP products.
Collaborate with roadway, drainage, geotechnical, traffic, and environmental staff to deliver integrated project solutions.
Support the development of construction documents and specifications.
Mentor junior engineers and provide quality control/assurance efforts.
May include supervision of designers and technicians of routine activities and projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland required.
Minimum 5 years of experience in bridge design/and or inspection experience.
Experience with MDOT bridge design guidelines and specifications, inspection procedures, and permit review processes strongly preferred.

NHI-130055 or NHI-130056 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges)
NHI-130078 (Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges)
NHI-130087 (Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures)
