We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for Electronic Assembly. A Senior Electronic Assembler builds and tests complex electronic products by following blueprints and instructions. The role requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various hand tools and measurement devices in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Sets up and fabricates moderately complex electronic and mechanical assemblies utilizing automatic and semi-automatic machines and hand tools. Specific duties vary by workload and cover a range of assembly techniques including harness and cable fabrication, electro‑mechanical assembly.
- Read and interpret schematic diagrams, blueprints, detailed work instructions, and technical specifications to determine material requirements and assembly procedures.
- Assist less skilled assemblers.
- Perform skilled hand work, including soldering (through‑hole and surface mount), crimping, and wiring to create secure electrical connections and harnesses, following proper techniques to prevent defects.
- Mount parts and components securely into casings or larger assemblies.
- Conduct tests and inspections of products and subassemblies using testing equipment (e.g., multimeters) to verify functionality and ensure conformance to quality standards and specifications such as IPC standards.
- Troubleshoot & repair: identify defects or malfunctions in assemblies, troubleshoot issues, and perform necessary adjustments, reworks, or repairs to correct defects.
- Adhere to safety protocols and quality control procedures, including proper handling of sensitive components (e.g., electrostatic discharge protection) and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Maintain accurate records of the assembly process, test results, and any issues encountered during production.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other production team members to address issues, suggest improvements, and develop prototypes.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is typically required. - Specialized experience in electrical and mechanical assembly techniques.
- Typically requires 3 or more years of related experience and demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the job duties.
- Certifications (Preferred):
Relevant industry certifications such as J‑STD‑001 or IPC‑A‑610 soldering certification and IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 can be highly beneficial. - Must be team oriented and able to communicate and interface with others to execute manufacturing schedules.
- Manual Dexterity:
Excellent hand‑eye coordination and finger dexterity for working with small parts. - Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints and perform tasks such as soldering and wiring.
- Proficiency in using hand tools (pliers, wire cutters, screwdrivers) and specialized equipment like soldering irons. Knowledge of electronic components and basic circuit functionality is essential.
- Ability to comprehend specifications, production requirements, procedures, and production drawings.
- Ability to set up and operate all fabrication equipment in the assigned area.
- Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Relevant military experience in electronic equipment or applicable trade school training is a plus.
