Pet+ER is interested in adding an Emergency Director to our Emergency and Critical Care team at our new hospital that opened in Hunt Valley, MD in June 2023. We provide 24-hour emergency and critical care services, partnering with in-house specialty teams in Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Cardiology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, and Canine Rehabilitation. Together, we provide the highest level of support to our patients and their owners.
Our hospital features a state-of-the-art ICU with stat case receiving bays, a Canon ultrasound system, high flow oxygen support, critical patient monitoring in Snyder oxygen kennels, digital radiology, 6-Lead EKG, in-house lab capacity including coagulation and blood gas monitoring, a spacious ER operating room with Ligasure, GIA, and TA stapling devices, a modern isolation ward, 16-slice CT, Hyperbaric oxygen chamber, MRI, and a blood bank coming in late 2025.
Positionoverview
The Emergency Director assists the Medical Director and Hospital Director with clinical operations and administration, ensuring high-quality medicine and outstanding client experience. This role maintains a 75% clinical and 25% administrative split, with a schedule of 2 12-hour clinical days and 2 6-hour admin days per week. After 6 months, remote admin shifts are supported.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ veterinary practice experience (leadership preferred), internship training or 2+ years' emergency experience in a specialty hospital setting. A DVM (or equivalent) degree, Maryland licensure, DEA, and Controlled Substance Licensure are required. Clinical duties include triage, receiving, inpatient care, and surgical cases, with shifts covering days, nights, weekends, and holidays. ER surgical experience is required.

- Mentor and coach veterinarians and technicians
- Support onboarding, relief scheduling, and recruitment
- Monitor caseloads and review finances
- Manage team relationships and provide technical support
- Participate in staff evaluations and intra-service collaborations
We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401K with match, HSA, pet discounts, professional development, and paid time off. The salary range for experienced ER veterinarians is $140,000 to $185,000, with earning potential of $230,000 to $350,000 including production. An additional administrative stipend of $40,000 to $60,000 is available based on leadership experience. Relocation stipends and signing bonuses are considered.
