Overview:
The Astronauts Memorial Foundation seeks an experienced and passionate Education Specialist (STEM) to join our team at the Center for Space Education. This role is instrumental in inspiring the next generation of explorers by leading interactive, hands-on STEM education programs at NASA Kennedy Space Center’s Exploration Station. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, a passion for STEM, and the ability to engage students and educators in the excitement of space exploration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and deliver dynamic, hands-on STEM classes and workshops for K-12 students and educators at the NASA KSC Exploration Station.
- Design and implement innovative STEM lessons aligned with NASA's mission and resources.
- Facilitate engaging experiences that promote critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork, emphasizing the real-world applications of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
- Train and mentor education specialists, volunteers, and interns, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality programs.
- Collaborate with NASA education partners to expand STEM education initiatives and resources.
- Plan and execute special events, camps, and professional development workshops for educators.
- Maintain and manage educational materials, equipment, and program spaces to ensure a safe and welcoming learning environment.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment and execute effective classroom management of 20-40 students per class.
- Serve as an ambassador for The Astronauts Memorial Foundation, representing the organization at outreach events and conferences.
- Utilize feedback and evaluation data to continuously improve program content and delivery.
- Oversee and manage pre-service educator interns.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM, or a related field.
- Current teaching certification (Florida).
- Completion of clinical training (Florida).
- Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging educational programs.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- At least 3 years of classroom or informal education experience, with a strong emphasis on STEM subjects.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Education
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Familiarity with NASA educational resources or space-related content.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including underserved and underrepresented communities.
- Knowledge of instructional technology and virtual learning tools.
