JOB SUMMARY
Working with the Sr. Accountant and Accounting Director, maintain various accounting sub systems, participate in budget and cost accounting processes, account reconciliations, month end and year end activities, and departmental reporting. Assist as backup to Accounts Payable Clerk and Payroll. Assist the Sr. Accountant in preparation of journal entries and monthly management reports.
JOB REQUIREMENTSPrefer B.S. degree in accounting or 10 years of applicable experience.
EXPERIENCEHospital accounting experience preferred.

- Exceptional phone etiquette.
- Assist Sr. Accountant with the fixed asset accounting, depreciation records, entering assets into the fixed asset module, reconciliation to the general ledger, and preparation of journal entries. Maintain construction in progress records.
- Perform all areas of financial accounting.
- Work with staff to maintain the established productivity system. Distribute reports timely monthly.
- Assist with preparing monthly journal entries to accrue necessary items with the goal of minimizing year-end adjustments.
- Assist with maintaining accounting records for various accounts and review to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Responsible for grant tracking, track grant-related expenditures and documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance with grant requirements, and readiness for audits.
- Responsible for employee travel, maintain, organize, and reconcile employee travel documentation, including approvals, receipts, and reimbursements, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and audit standards.
- Perform return check duties as needed.
- Reconcile bank accounts and subsystems to the G/L monthly.
- Perform grant and foundation accounting, reconciliations, and reporting functions as needed.
- Responsible for unclaimed property management, monitor, track, and manage unclaimed property in accordance with state regulations of the state wherein the property is unclaimed, including due diligence, reporting, and timely remittance, while maintaining complete documentation to support audits and regulatory reviews.
- Help with requests from department managers as needed.
- Perform internal audit functions as needed.
- Assist Accounting Director and Sr. Accountant in departmental administration and special projects as assigned.
- Assist with 1099 review and submission.
- Serves as backup to Accounts Payable and Payroll.
- Assists in compiling, formulating and reviewing fiscal budgets.
