Responsibilities

• Apply skills learned during academic training, educational programs, and practical experience to treat patient/family needs.
• Demonstrate competency in implementation of treatment plans; document appropriately; evaluate effectiveness and modify as indicated, following consultation with the Occupational Therapist.
• Show good interpersonal skills when interacting with families, physicians, patients and others involved in a patient’s care to promote an environment of cooperation and respect.
• Provide appropriate information at meetings such as team and family conferences, home health conferences, rehab clinic meetings and others as necessary.
• Maintain current knowledge of therapy techniques appropriate to the patients at Gottsche Rehab Center through attendance of in‑service classes and the appropriate amount of continuing education as required by state licensure.
• Assist in appropriate treatments or portions thereof, assess the accuracy, thoroughness and appropriateness of the care provided and then provide feedback to the Department Head.
• Seek necessary information and input from staff, physicians and other health care professionals to ensure ongoing appropriate patient care.
• Have knowledge in the use of therapy devices including exercise tables, fitness equipment, assistive devices, wheelchairs, pulleys, weights and other equipment common to the practice of physical therapy.
• Demonstrate an awareness of safety in all aspects of patient care.
