GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

As a Public Health Nurse in Park County, you’ll be at the forefront of promoting health and preventing disease within your community. Public Health Nursing is a specialized field that goes beyond traditional patient care—it’s about fostering wellness and resilience across populations. In this role, you’ll work closely with individuals, families, and groups to identify health needs, provide essential healthcare services, and connect people with valuable health resources.

Our Public Health Nurses deliver a wide range of services tailored to community health, from administering vaccines and offering disease screenings to educating the public on health risks and healthy behaviors. You’ll play an integral role in shaping health policies, coordinating health initiatives, and responding to public health emergencies, ensuring that every member of the community has the support they need to thrive.

This position is eligible for a $2,000 hiring bonus

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Conduct nursing assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and evaluations in line with ANA's Public Health Nursing Standards.
  • Arrange and lead community health clinics and health education classes.
  • Support public health core functions, prioritizing services that meet community needs.
  • Administer adult and child vaccines, provide STI/HIV testing, manage TB testing, and more.
  • Provide Ryan White case management, maternal and child home visitation, lactation counseling, and LT‑101 reviews.
  • Collaborate with the nurse manager and public health response coordinator on emergency preparedness activities.
PREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming.

A valid driver's license is required.

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of laws, principles, practices, and techniques of professional nursing.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance of medical records, charts, reports, and observations.
  • Knowledge of principles of the nursing process and the scientific process.
  • Knowledge of applying medical diagnosis and treatment to patient care.
  • Knowledge of scientific concepts as a basis for decision‑making.
  • Knowledge of evaluation services and programs according to standards.
  • Knowledge of work management, leadership theory, and practice.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws pertaining to healthcare.
  • Knowledge of public health core functions and essential services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing.

Experience: 0‑2 years of progressive work experience in Nursing with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming.

Education & Experience Substitution: 3‑5 years of progressive work experience in Nursing with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN.
