Manages the HIPAA Program under the general direction of the Compliance Director.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the HIPAA Program under the general direction of the Compliance Director
- Maintains and develops HIPAA program policies, procedures, risk assessments, and risk mitigation strategies
- Responsible for overseeing all ongoing activities related to the privacy of patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and Kootenai Health privacy and security practices
- Responds to inquiries and investigates complaints to facilitate patient rights under HIPAA
- Engages in the development and implementation of audit and monitoring plans and participates in the development and delivery of educational and outreach materials
- Responsible for reporting on program activities, maintaining investigation documentation and monitoring regulatory developments
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree and Privacy Certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare auditing, billing & coding, legal or regulatory, or other related experience in the healthcare field.
- Knowledge of the healthcare regulatory environment
- Knowledge of HIPAA requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management methods and tools
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present findings and recommendations as required
- MS Office product knowledge (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
