Schedule/Shift/Hours PRN - (As Needed) - Days
Position SummaryProvides assessment, evaluation, education and monitors progress in activity level for patients with a cardiopulmonary diagnosis based on patient’s health history, cardiovascular risk factors, family history, health status, and physician order.
Responsibilities- Conducts patient assessments to determine appropriate care plans
- Leads and directs patient activity and education classes while working collaboratively with team members and students to provide patient care
- Provides educational information related to cardiopulmonary disease and processes, nutrition, psychosocial, medications and related topics to patients, professionals and at community events
- Administers and titrates supplemental oxygen based on physician orders
- Conducts Six Minute Walk or similar tests to help establish supplemental oxygen requirements for patients
- Assist with patient transition to utilizing supplemental oxygen
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school or Respiratory Therapy or US military equivalent required
- 6 months experience with cardiac, pulmonary, or chronically ill patients in a rehabilitative setting preferred
- Credentialed as a CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) or RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) by the NBRC required
- Licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Idaho required
- BLS required
- ACLS required
- Membership with AACVPR preferred
- AACVPR CCRP certification required within 1 year of hire
- Strong knowledge of cardiac and respiratory physiology
- Able to monitor and interpret 3 lead EKGs
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to kneel
- Must be able to stoop or crouch
- Required to bend
- Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Must be able to move or traverse with/without accommodation
- Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
- Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information
- Typical equipment used in a clinical and/or office job
- Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals, acids, cleaning solution, disinfectants, soaps, etc.
- Exposure to gas, vapor, fall risk, glass, smell, noise, etc.
- Repetitive movements
