Overview
Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented, computer-savvy Medical Scribe to join our Axis Spine team. Under the supervision of the Practice Manager, the Medical Scribe documents and transcribes dictations into the Meditech EHR, partnering with a physician to ensure complete capture of medical information as spoken. Accompany physicians into patient exam areas to accurately document encounters as described by the physician.
Transcribe dictation for a variety of medical reports, including patient histories, physical examinations, emergency visits, operations, chart reviews, consultations, or discharge summaries. Review and edit reports for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology. Project a professional demeanor and maintain patient confidentiality per Hospital policies and procedures.
- Document and transcribe dictations into the Meditech EHR under physician supervision.
- Accompany physicians into patient exam areas to document encounters accurately as described.
- Transcribe dictations for diverse medical reports (histories, exams, ED visits, operations, chart reviews, consultations, discharge summaries).
- Review and edit reports for spelling, grammar, clarity, and medical terminology.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies.
- Ability to type accurately at 45+ words per minute.
- Strong verbal and written English skills; effective public speaking may be required.
- Demonstrated computer skills with word processing, integrated databases, and other functions.
- Knowledge of proper grammar and spelling in documentation; ability to write concisely and clearly.
- Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for personal growth and advancement.
- CPR certification (must be achievable within 60 days of employment).
- Previous experience with medical terminology preferred.
