Kootenai Health is currently hiring a patient-focused, compassionate Patient Safety Attendant with a drive to provide exceptional care to those they serve. The Patient Safety Attendant position at Kootenai Health is a great fit for many people who are:

Responsibilities:

  • Watches patients at all times, never leaves the patient unattended without proper relief
  • Identifies behaviors, events, or environmental factors that may predispose a patient to violent/destructive actions or increased agitation, reports signs of escalation to the patient’s nurse
  • Maintains a safe environment for the patient in their room, removes dangerous items and screens items brought by visitors
  • Assists with patient ambulation and positioning of patients under nursing oversight
  • Effectively solves problems and resolves conflicts
  • Effectively communicates with patients, families, visitors, team members, physicians, and other hospital personnel
  • Performs efficiently and effectively under stress
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience working with vulnerable patient populations including psychiatric and dementia populations preferred.
  • BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation
  • Safe patient handling to include ambulation and positioning of patients during orientation

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to move or traverse with/without accommodation
  • Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height
  • Must be able to maintain a standing position
  • Must be able to maintain a sitting position
  • Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
