Client Services Technician Description

The Division of Youth Safety and Permanency is recruiting for a Client Services Technician. Do you have personal or professional experience within or in support of programs serving youth and families and/or the child welfare team? This position is perfect for individuals who want to be a part of a team that is protecting the safety and welfare of Idaho's children.

Client Services Technicians (CSTs) supervise court-ordered visitations between children in the department's care and the parents/guardians to ensure safe conditions are maintained. CSTs transport children to and from visits and appointments, as well as a myriad of other important coordination activities. CST’s must be able to lift and carry items weighing approximately 50 pounds, and to perform physical work such as lifting and carrying children, car seats, and boxes.

This position is located in the Coeur d'Alene Field Office.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug‑free workplace. In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

Example Of Duties
  • Provide transportation and support services to child welfare clients in a variety of settings.
  • Supervise or monitor visitation including parent/child, sibling, or extended family.
  • Mentor and coach parents on providing age appropriate interactions, redirection, supervision and write progress notes.
  • Testify in court regarding parent interactions and abilities in parenting their children.
  • Guide clients in completing documents necessary to implement services.
  • Explain applicable laws, policies, and procedures to clients.
  • Ability to type and develop Word documents and enter documents in a database system.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of home sanitation and safety. Typically gained by completion of a health or home economics course covering home sanitation and safety or home schooling or training covering home sanitation and safety.
  • Experience working with clients who may be behaviorally, socially, physically and/or mentally challenged. Typically gained by six months work experience in a hospital, nursing home, or similar environment, or as home healthcare provider, working with clients who are behaviorally, socially, physically, and/or mentally challenged.
  • Experience observing and recording clients' behaviors, treatment responses, and progress. Typically gained by six months work experience charting or tracking client information in a professional care setting or through employment as a home healthcare provider.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
