Independents Biennial 2025 is shaping up to be our most ambitious programme yet, with a bold vision and an exciting lineup of artists, exhibitions, and events. To bring it all to life, we’re looking for enthusiastic Front of House Volunteers to join us from March to September 2025.

This role requires flexibility to work around the programme’s schedule, as events and exhibitions will take place across various times and locations.

As a Front of House Volunteer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring a smooth visitor experience, assisting guests, and representing Independents Biennial in a public-facing role.

We welcome applications from anyone interested in supporting the programme.

Your Role & Responsibilities
  • Provide general support to ensure the smooth running of venues
  • Registration Check in
  • Invigilating
  • Monitor specific areas of the venue to ensure that visitors are engaging with the artwork respectfully and safely.
  • Be a friendly and visible presence in gallery and event spaces
  • Assist with visitor guidance and engagement
  • Help maintain exhibition and event spaces
  • Monitor visitor numbers and contribute to event evaluations
  • Lead or assist with guided tours and help visitors navigate the programme

Training & Support

All volunteers will receive a full induction and relevant to their role, including:

  • Exhibition-specific setup training for individual installations
  • General safeguarding training to uphold best practices in public engagement
  • Personalised training based on your specific responsibilities within the programme

Ongoing support and supervision will be provided by senior staff throughout the festival.
