Instrument Operations Technician

Job Summary:

The primary function of this position is to serve as an Instrument Operations Technician. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in basic process plant operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting in process instrumentation, controls, or electrical equipment.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Adhere to safety policies, participate in safety meetings.
• Apply hazardous work permits, lockout-tagout, and energy isolation procedures.
• Follow management of change procedures for process updates.
• Supervise and monitor contractors.

• Support inventory management.
• Set up and operate tools and equipment safely.
• Prioritize and schedule work activities.
• Perform calibration checks on analyzers.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems once certified.

• Assist in plant shutdowns, start-ups, and process changes.
• Utilize CMMS (SAP) for maintenance.
• Troubleshoot process issues and perform water treatment analyses.
• Accept on-call duties and overtime as needed.

Required Skills:

• Basic algebra, fractions, percentages, unit conversions.
• Proficiency with personal computers.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic tool skills.
• Knowledge of chemical hazards and electrical safety.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings (P&IDs, PFDs).
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance.
• Operate forklifts, cranes, or man lifts.
• Certified to ISA Level 1 or equivalent technical training.
• Must obtain ISA Level 1 certification within two years of hire.

Qualifications:

• HSD or GED.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in process plant operations or maintenance.
• Physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, and working at heights.
• Valid driver's license.
