Assistant Manager II – Family Dollar

Duties- Assist with store functions and day‑to‑day activities.
- Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
- Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas of the store.
- Perform opening and closing procedures.
- Process corporate directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey requests, and other communications related to store activities.
- Maintain promotional effectiveness of store‑front fixtures and displays.
- Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, and record‑keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts).
- Maintain store areas to company standards – well‑stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
- Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
- Adhere to policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, ensuring all associates follow them.
- Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
- Ensure a positive, safe, respectful environment with professional and friendly interactions.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including bathrooms, floors, trash removal, and overall neatness.
- Assist with obtaining and maintaining specialized licenses for alcohol and tobacco sales as required by local jurisdiction.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
- Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment (preferred).
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
